CNN reports that Caroline Kennedy is withdrawing her name from consideration for New York's vacant senate seat, because of her concern about Ted Kennedy's poor health.
I would like to announce that I am withdrawing my name from consideration for the Baltimore Orioles starting rotation, because of my concern about Ted Kennedy's poor health.
If you want to criticize either of us, the worst thing you can say is that we care too much about Uncle Ted.

You should care about Uncle Ted. He's awesome. Oh, I know, he's a lefty, so he'll never get your full love, but the guy's got stones. I'll never forget the shouting match he had with McCain when I was interning ("ACT LIKE A SENATOR!"). It was awesome. He'd stand up to Jesse Helms when no one else would. He worked with everyone and got shit done. There aren't many like him left. Stiff Kerry, lightweight Burris, mind-numbing Reid. I mean, who is there to get excited about anymore?

I think you missed Redneck's point, which was that Caroline wasn't going to get the appointment, probably not for my good reasons, but for lousy ones like tax and personal life issues —

so she tried to preempt the rejection by withdrawing. And of course she showed why she wasn't qualified for this job, because her excuse was so patently fraudulent and absurd. If you want to be a Senator, you're going to have to be slicker than that.
Now Patterson's people have called Caroline out on this, saying they were going to reject her anyway. And the Kennedy camp is outraged about it: no no no, we're Kennedys — if there's going to be spurning, WE get to do it.
I don't know what the etiquette is here: if you're the Governor and it's no skin off your back, do you let the candidate withdraw? I'm inclined to think the Governor gets to say what he wants, especially if she wasted his time. To me this just looks like a Kennedy throwing her name around and then making appeals to her dignity and privacy when it doesn't work.
Ted Kenedy is a LIBERAL!!! He's why we have the banking crisis in the first place!! He wants al quaida to win and then eeryone be a slave to SHARIA LAW!!! And let the ILLEGAL mexicans in!!
